Don’t tell me it’s gonna be DEADBEEF every time. That would render all the CRCs useless. Thanks for the episode!

No no, that would only render the CRCs half useless. There are two aspects to CRCs and why they are in there, The original reason, and what it came to be used as. The original reason still is there, to verify that some of the bits didn’t get messed up in transfer or storage (when burned to a CD/DVD).

For a bit of fansub history (and rambling in reply), it used to be that transfers were constantly getting messed up on download. By including the hash of the file, the downloader could run a quick local check to see if the file transfered correctly or not, without having to worry if it was a codec problem. If some leech came into the channel and asked why video was messed up, instructions were given to check the crc, and if it was wrong, either redownload, or in some cases, zidrav the file (to correct the problem with less bandwidth used).

Now though, when bt is the primary way viewers download fansubs, this includes the error correction, and almost always results in a good file. So the hash isn’t as important on downloading, but still a bit on storage, for those who archive their media. Because connections are generally more stable, and they were mostly unique, then people started using CRCs to search with, to handle people renaming the files. This though is not why CRCs were included in the file, now it is more of tradition than anything else.

So as to them all being DEADBEEF, it isn’t actually up to me, I just approve of it! (Although I would have picked a different CRC myself, but meh.)

Is there another audiosource

The show is aired on TBS, and for whatever reason, they have what sounds like a filter on this episode, and it is just the episode. I pulled the actual raw file, and compared the audio quality throughout it, and the sound during the commercials sounds just fine, but when they are actually airing Amagami, it sounds like crap. All that to say… it isn’t just the raw getting messed up, it came from the station as such.

Ep 2 hasn’t aired on MBS yet, and I haven’t seen a CBC raw of it yet to compare, but the audio bugged me considerably while I was doing QC. Not that a v2 would be released, I cannot say, but shoot, I’d like a new audio file for my own purposes. So if someone knows of a source, I’m listening (if my ears still survive from the TBS version)!

On a side note… audio is once again good on ep 3
