History of ANBUThe History of ANBU (2001.10 – 2010.01) Original founders: crustol, Torgan, jishin, nenex 1st generation: The Original Founders The 1st generation set the foundation and the standards of ANBU, with releases only accessible through Tenba (animefactory). ANBU thus developed its reputation as a shadow group, jointing only with High Quality Anime and former group Anime-Kissaten. 2nd generation: The Aniverse/MIRC-X Era With the addition of satoshi, the first ANBU IRC channel was founded on aniverse; #anbuDOM (Download Only Members) gave eager leechers and groups facilitated access to ANBU projects and staff. The 2nd generation also forges the notorious ANBU-Keep and ANBU-AonE joints, the latter of which arose to become the breadwinner project for ANBU. ANBU Forums is also founded here under the supervision of starduck. 3rd generation: The Rice-Box Influx Rice-Box Anime is divided into two due to internal conflict; a majority of the Rice-Box subset joins ANBU, while the rest, led by Skull_Leader and TemjinGold, forms a new group known as Onigiri. Rice-Box disbands in 2004, followed by Onigiri a year later. Boosted by the influx of manpower, ANBU tries to initiate a return to its former standalone status. 4th generation: The Rizon Era The Rizon era marks the end of a dynasty—after contributing over 500 translated scripts and four years of fansubbing, crustol announces retirement from all fansubbing activity. ANBU is forced to rely on the partnership of old stalwarts and new blood in ensuing survival in the ruthless world of fansubbing. 5th generation: The Reinux Revolution ANBU finds leadership from an unexpected candidate in the form of the formerly domicile reinux, who now takes the helm as ANBU’s chief translator. Another unexpected source of leadership comes from old stalwart asunder, who together with reinux, systematically reforms ANBU’s infrastructure into its current system of operations. It is also from this generation that Mushishi, perhaps ANBU’s most well-received series since Naruto, is born from its reins. 6th generation: The Great Revival crustol and Torgan announce their shocking return to fansubbing, with asunder suspected as the main orchestrator behind this mysterious happening. The return of the former icon(s) re-spark inspirations both old and new, which materializes in the form of two new projects in the form of Tytania and Nodame Cantabile Paris. ANBU also celebrates its seven year anniversary during this era, dating its first release of Kokoro Toshokan back to 2001.10.23. 7th generation: The AonE Exodus ANBU experiences an influx of new staff after an internal struggle in AonE sees editor Ayanami- leaving the group after an unsuccessful attempt to restore AonE to its former glory. Joined by long-time AonE member X^` and others part of the destroyed revival movement, numerous members from AonE join ANBU in the hopes of reigniting their determination and passion for fansubbing. Together with the boost of personnel, ANBU also seek a return to their former glory days and this determination is shown immediately through the announcement of project Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 with Frostii, followed by projects NEEDLESS, CANAAN and Princess Lover!… HANBU Members: Editors/Quality Check Encoders Raw Providers Timers Translators Typesetters/Stylers Distro/Lurkers Categories
